DEFRAG
Description
Reorganizes the files on a disk to make it work faster
Command Syntax
DEFRAG [drive] [/f] [/s[:]order] [/b] [/skiphigh] [/lcd
| /bw | /go] [/h]
or
DEFRAG [drive] [/u] [/b] [/skiphigh] [/lcd | /bw | /go]
[/h]

drive is the drive to defragment
-
/f makes sure there are no empty spaces between files
-
/u leaves empty spaces between files
-
/s sorts in the order specified in order. The order can be one or
more of the following:

n (alphabetical)
-
n- (reverse alphabetical)
-
e (by extension)
-
e- (by reverse extension)
-
d (date order, oldest first)
-
d- (date order, newest first)
-
s (size order, smallest first)
-
s- (size order, largest first)
-
/b reboots the computer when DEFRAG has finished
-
/skiphigh skips using upper memory
-
/lcd uses an LCD colour scheme
-
/bw uses a black & white colour scheme
-
/go disables graphics characters and the graphical mouse pointer.

/h moves hidden files when defragmenting
Comments
DEFRAG can take a long time so it's best to do it overnight. If you use DoubleSpace or DriveSpace, you will need to defragment the CVF file as well. It's also a good idea to run Scandisk before using DEFRAG.
